Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF)
Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) is a not-for-profit trade federation created by the powder metallurgy industry to advance the interests of metal powder producers and metal powder–using industries. It describes itself as a federation of six trade associations covering different parts of powder metallurgy, metal powders, and particulate materials, and it positions itself as a long-time advocate and promoter of PM technology and its industrial benefits.
In day-to-day industry terms, MPIF functions as a hub for technical standards, education, and industry coordination. One of its major technical outputs is its Standard Test Methods for Metal Powders and Powder Metallurgy Products, which provides guidance on terminology and recommended test methods and is developed through committees of technical experts; MPIF also maintains a digital library of technical conference papers dating back decades.
MPIF is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey (105 College Road East) and supports the industry through member services, publications/news, and events (including conferences that also cover areas like metal additive manufacturing alongside traditional PM).
