Case Study: Hydraulic Fitting Nut

Case Study: Hydraulic Fitting Nut

A quick and creative solution to save the day.

After inadvertently providing another supplier incorrect specs, a customer came to us with a rush order for 10,000 left- and right-hand threaded nuts for hydraulic fittings. And just like Mighty Mouse, Earnest Machine was there to save the day.

We decided to start with a standard hex nut that was already heat-treated, which enabled us to save time and meet the customer’s tight deadline. Because the nuts were designated for use on flared hydraulic fittings, we had to counterbore and countersink each nut with a 37.5 degree flared edge. The customer was concerned about the depth of the counterbore and countersink, so we provided production samples to test specs before completing the job.
