Hex Nuts are the most common nuts on the market. For metric sizes, the two most common dimensional standards that metric hex nuts are made to are either DIN 934 or ISO 4032. These two standards will have different tolerances on the thickness and the width across the flats (especially for the M10, M12 and M14 sizes).
