Earnest Machine's Secondary Services

When sourcing products, sometimes it’s easy to forget that the company from which the product is sourced can also fulfill secondary needs such as coating/plating, drilling, and drop shipping. When a company like Earnest Machine can not only provide the part, but also provide the secondary services needed, it saves a lot of time and money from sending parts to additional vendors.

This year, Earnest Machine began tracking all secondary services including plating and scored them for on-time delivery. Tracking includes plating performance from when a part is picked, sent to the plater, and when it’s delivered back to the distribution center. Tracking this information from start to finish is not something Earnest has previously done, but when reviewing the customer experience, the plating turnaround time is just as important as other KPIs. 

With their current on-time delivery being as competitive as it stands, platers Earnest works with also need to adhere to the same standards. What Earnest has found in the industry is the current turnaround time for plating services is about 3-4 weeks, however with the new scoring guide Earnest has created for themselves, they have found platers who can turnaround a job within 2 weeks. 

In addition to plating, Earnest Machine added drilling capabilities to its Engineering and Manufacturing Center and has the ability to drill in quantities from 1 to 1 million. Holes can be drilled from 3/64” to 13/32” and anywhere in between. 

Drop shipping and blind drop shipping allows customers the ability to ship their newly plated and/or drilled parts directly to their customers. This saves time and money as there is no need to unpack, count, and repack product before it goes to its final destination. Because Earnest carefully tracks its Distribution Performance on a monthly basis to share on-time delivery, parts accuracy, quantity accuracy, and order entry accuracy, customers can trust that their own customers will receive the right part, in the right quantity, on-time, every time.
