How We Made: The 5/8-18x1 3/4 Hex Head Tap Bolt

How We Made The 5/8-18x1 3/4 Hex Head Tap Bolt

Need a part cut to length? In this episode of How We Made, Earnest Machine will demonstrate its ability to quickly cut to length a hex head tap bolt on a chop saw.

We received an order for 380 hex head tap bolts that need to be cut to length. To make this process efficient and cost effective, a chop saw will be used. After the part is cut, a demurring operation is performed to remove any rough edges. This process will also chamfer the lead threads of the tap bolt. The operator will then spot check the threads and tolerances to ensure quality. With the machining finished, the parts are ready to be sent back to the customer.
