Bucket Tooth Bolt / Shear Blade Bolt
# 7 Head Plow Bolts have a low profile countersunk head with a formed key designed into the head to provide ease of assembly and excellent durability. This head design is commonly used in the assembly of the teeth on bulldozer, backhoe and excavator buckets (bucket tooth bolt). Another popular application for this low profile head design is in the assembly of shear blades in metal shears and demolition shears (shear blade bolt).
Earnest line of # 7 Head Bolts are made from Alloy Steel heat treated to a Grade 8 (150,000 psi min) strength level for excellent toughness and wear resistance. The ANSI standard for plow bolts (ASME B18.9) only dimensions # 7 head plow bolts to 3/4” diameter. Earnest has developed a complete line up to 1 1/2” diameter utilizing the same proportionality as specified in B18.9.
Earnest Machine Products utilizes a truncated key design for the most popular lengths of 5/8 and 3/4 diameter sizes of #7 head plow bolts. The truncated key makes for easy locating and insertion of the key into the mating key way without sacrificing its shear strength. The cross sectional area (G x W) of the key at the junction of the head is the main area of stress concentration and the truncated key provides equivalent strength to the standard key design. The special design is compatible with all bucket tooth bolt and knife blade bolt applications.
The truncated key design improves the manufacturing capability of this head design and ensures that the product can be manufactured more cost effectively.
